Rockin' on the Food Storage!

I was so excited to go to the grocery store earlier tonight! They were having a great sale. Here's my loot~

The paper plates, bowls & cups were 5 for $5 so I stocked up~so I might not have any food but I'll have something to eat of off! haha So go stock up! Sale's on until Tuesday!

Kool-aid was 10 for $1 so I bought 40 packs!

Biscuits were 5 for $5!

Canned goods were 3 for $1 so I bought green beans & corn! I also bought corn at Sam's the other day so we have plenty of corn.

Cake mixes were on sale for 88 cents i think. Not that I need them in my food storage but I like having them around the house just in case!

So my next project is to organize the pantry. I am getting ready to buy some organizers for my space so I can find what I have.

*Texas History*

I have to admit I was really looking forward to the trip probably more than Heather. Since I'm not a true Texan, I've never learned about any of the Texas History stuff.

It was a really neat place to go, so if you ever get the chance to go~DO IT! They only do the re-enactment once a year in April.

We visited the Battleship first. We spent an hour & a half just looking through the ship & we still didn't get to see it all. After we visited the ship, we stopped to eat lunch.

Then we headed over to the re-enactment. They do the re-enactment in front of the monument. We didn't actually get to go into the monument but I would like to go back and visit it again.

They had their camps set up & they were dressed in period dress. This is Sam Houston. The kids were able to ask questions & the people would answer in character.

Some of the people actually spent the night at the campgrounds last night in their tents.

Ladies who were cross-stitching at their camp

Heather in the Army~As we were walking around the camps, some soliders were recruiting for the Texas Army. They let the kids pick up the mussets & they taught them how to march into war. It was really neat~although Heather didn't think so!

Mexican Soliders

General Santa Ana

These Mexican Soliders were really good. When they took pictures they had a little chant they said to the people they were posing with.

We had a great day & I definitely say go to this if you ever get the chance!

Sassy Girl!

Here's Caroline in a new outfit she got for her birthday! My friend Michelle picked it up for her~she has a little boy so she wasn't sure about it, but I think it's cute! Thanks Michelle!

***Funk-a-doodle***

I have been in a funk lately~I don't want to cook, but yet I don't want to spend the fortune it takes for our family to eat out. I'm so ready for summer! I need some fresh ideas for supper! So tonight I was thinking we could order pizzas but I remembered to look in the freezer in the garage and found this looking at me!

WooHoo! I saved myself $20 AND everyone ate tonight! I know it's a sad thing to be excited about but remember it's the little things in life right?

My Latest Project...

I have had this board & the paper for years! Hum, well I think I bought when my cousin Lisa got married~so Lisa how long have you been married? I was so excited about it but for some reason never did have the right color paint to paint my board. Finally, on Sunday I decided to git-r-done! (after seeing one at a friends house~not the same though)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way it turned out! It was super easy. I have it on an easel in the picture but I'm going to put a hanger on the back and hang it on the wall in my dining room! I swear it's projects like these that make me wish I was a Utah Mormon! haha I know I'm a craft nerd! I think I have 2 more sheets of this paper, so if you want me to make you one let me know!

Keep checking back for my next project I'm so excited about! I'm hoping to get working on it tonight after Tyson & I make a trip to Lowe's!

Good Mail of my own!

I am my mother's daughter when it comes to checking the mail. I look forward to it everyday even though it's usually bills! I keep hoping maybe I'll win the publisher's sweepstakes someday! haha Anyways, I got this in the mail from my mom sometime this week (it's been so crazy I can't remember which day it was). Michael's had their cricut cartridges on sale for $39.99 last week so I called her and asked her if she wanted a mission! She acceped & found all 3 of the ones I wanted! I was so excited! I can't wait until I get the chance to play with them! I'm getting ready to do a quote in my kitchen!

Thanks mom~you ROCK!!!

I'm the Birthday Girl!

Claire, Caroline, & Kaitlin

Caroline was so excited that yesterday was her birthday. She let EVERYONE know it too. We were at the soccer field & the softball fields & she was going around saying, "Today's my birthday!", "I'm the birthday girl!" "I'm 5!". So I asked the kids to help me carry some stuff to the car & her reply~"I'm the birthday girl!" yeah, yeah, pick up the stuff! haha! It was cute though!

We had her birthday party at the bowling alley & it was tons of fun! Heather says she wants to have her party there now!

Heather, Maddie & Cassidy

Abby, Walker, Tryce, Hunter & Jed

Caroline wanted to have a half Cinderella party & half Spiderman party, because she said the boys wouldn't want Cinderella cupcakes! So that's what we did. I made the Cinderella ones & bought the Spiderman ones. They were a hit!

It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since Caroline was born. She will be starting Kindergarten next year & she's been accepted into the Dual Language Program for our district which means we'll all be at the same school for one year! WOOHOO!!! We will be parking my suburban & walking to school everyday! I'm actually excited! It's not far enough to be considered exercise though! haha

Happy Birthday Sweetie!

*I've got to find NEW friends*

because the ones I have these days aren't friend enough to check me into the crazy house, or maybe it's just that I've learned to keep my ideas a secret until I can do them and I haven't committed myself. For example, here we go & you can be the judge...

I'm hosting our book club meeting this week. We are reading "Sarah's Quilt" by Nancy Turner. It's the sequel to "These Is My Words" which we read 2 months ago. They are great historical fiction reads and these days at the top of my reccomend list. OK, so I start searching the net for discussion questions for our meeting. I come across the author's website & it says to contact her and she will call during your meeting and talk with your group. So I thought Hey that would be pretty cool! (then I realized that I don't have a speaker phone so it wouldn't really work) BUT anyways before I realized that, I thought it was a great idea.

I'm serving strawberries, bananas, & marshmellows with a chocolate fountain (if I can borrow my friend's fountain) for dessert and because I thought these were cute I've decided to make a cute party favor to go along with the book. (I know I'm a dork) I'll post those when I'm through. So see I can't just host a book club meeting, I have to have all the extras. Sometimes I even have to tell myself enough is enough!

OK problem #2 Caroline is turning 5 on Saturday & b/c I've discovered my Pampered Chef Decorator I think I can take on the cake decorating so I've bought this

so I can make Caroline cupcakes for her birthday party. I'm crazy I know, but no one has commited me yet. see where the new friends come in.

that's not the end of the crazy house but I'll close for tonight! :)

Busy Sunday

This weekend was Conference weekend for our church. Since we have direct tv we were able to watch it at home. I actually got a lot done this weekend since Soccer & softball were cancelled due to the storms on Friday the fields were too wet.

I got my cabinets finished FINALLY. Tyson hung them too. We were one hinge short b/c when we bought hinges we picked up one that wasn't the same as the rest. Tyson's got to run to lowe's for a few other things tomorrow so he can pick on up then. I need something to go over my sink on the board that is there. It's kind of plain.

Tyson cousin Kassi & I have talked about having Tyson's mom cook for us & finally we asked her to do it. She comes once a week & cooks up some meals that will freeze then we just thaw and eat. Sometimes we add sides. It's been really nice & my freezer has been full. It really helps on the nights when we know we only have a few minutes to spare for dinner & it keeps us from having to eat out. Tonight we had chicken spaghetti. It was yummy! I made some cheddar cheese rolls like they serve at Red Lobster. The kids all ate so I consider dinner a success.

I need to find some more yummy meals.

Then I also made cupcakes & muffin heads (it's just the top of the muffins) for the kids. They were so excited! I used my Pampered Chef decorator (that I've never used) to put the icing on & they look nearly professional if I do say so myself. I let the kids put the sprinkles on. They were some my mom sent us & they were white. I thought they were pink & red!

We made the kids sit down and listen to President Monson's last talk of conference this afternoon! It was really good & I love hearing his words! We've recorded it so we can go back and watch the others. Tyson was working so I'll watch it again with him throughout the week!

Have a great week!

WOO HOO I did it!!!

I've been stalking the

Cricut website

to get ideas on how to use my cricut. Of course I can't start with a small project. I have to jump in head first. I saw these word books that I thought were so cool~so I set out to figure out the way to make one and here it is.

I've got to take it apart and scrapbook the inside pages but I was so excited I had to put it together for a picture. This book is for Heather's friend, Mila. Her birthday is in a few weeks.

I WON!!!!

a while back I entered a giveway on this blog

Dalayney's Doodles

and I won! I'm so excited I never win anything! This lady does some amazing scrapbook related stuff!

YAY!!!

The Week in Review

Tyson's been clearing out the backyard. He moved our fence back to where the property line should be and now our yard is huge. He was working back there and found this snake for Jed. Jed named him Speedy. Tyson told Jed to let him go and Jed was sad. Tyson told him he could have a pet snake. I think he's lost his mind.

Here's the view from the back of the yard towards the house. Our house sits on .59 of an acre so now we have a great big yard.

This last thing I'm almost embarrassed to post but it's too funny not to~Several years ago we bought new bedding for our bed. The sheets were so comfy that when we bought new bedding again the sheets were horrible~we slept on them one night then threw them away. We put the original sheets back on. Ok~this is the funny part. Tyson & I were talking about needing to wash our sheets and he was fixing the blankets on our bed one night and this is what he found. It's on my side of the bed, so I've worn a hole in the sheets. I told him that I thought I felt foam but never really worried about it. So that tells you all of our nasty secrets! haha Needless to say, we bought new 300 thread count sheets tonight. So I'm going to bed! haha

I need to get out more

My friend Rachella had this on her blog so I decided to do one.
