is that we are unofficially unemployed~if that's possible~the rumor is that Tyson's plant will be closing effective March 2009~there's a slim chance that they could sell the place BUT we aren't too hopefully & I don't know if we'll stick around to watch~

there's not much we can do except tighten our belts and start looking for other jobs. I haven't freaked too much YET~we've found a couple of jobs online that Tyson is going to apply for & he's going to work at his tree/lawn business as much as possible~

so don't feel sorry for us just pray~I know that Heavenly Father has something great in store for our family & he will provide a way for things to happen as long as we are doing our part!:)

Wanna Play?

My last post I shared my love for the Nike + system, of course I've told several friends about it and they have it but didn't really use it so I decided to set up a challenge for the month of October~it's a super easy one~the person with the most miles at the end of the month wins the challenge! If you want to play, let me know & I'll send you the invite to the challenge.

You do need the Nike + sensor system but not neccessarily the Nike + shoes.

I {HEART} Nike +

The counselor at our school has been losing weight and of course I notice~I swear I'm obsessed BUT way too lazy to get off my butt and do anything about it! I guess just add it to my list of illnesses~

Anyways, enough about me really~so of course I asked her what she's been doing & she shares her secret of course it isn't the magic one I was hoping for BUT at least it was fun!:)

I had heard about the NIKE PLUS website, but really didn't know how it worked. But my friend, Missy, told me all about it. You have to have an ipod, the nike plus shoes, & the nike plus sensor. You don't really have to have the shoes, there's another way to use it without buying the shoes~Anyways, I had the IPOD & the shoes (I bought by accident), and I had $15 in Target gift cards so I went & bought the sensor~

You can sign up for challenges on the website and then you compete by the number of miles you walk. Missy was kind enough to let me join in with her family~So we are having a lot of fun with it.

If you decide you want to try it out, let me know and we can create our own private challenge!

In other exercise news, I know at the beginning of the year I said I was going to run a 5k~unfortunately with the kids & life things have gotten in the way & running has been put on the back burner~I had planned on running a 5k this coming Saturday at Kemah~um, well it's a good thing I talked myself out of that one since Kemah isn't there anymore!:)

My friend at school told me about a local one November 1st & we are planning on running it together! There's also one at the end of October for Red Ribbon Week, so I might try to run that one also!

Ok I just realized that it's been..

2 days since I've posted! And a few days since I've posted a pic~Well, school it kicking my butt! It's like starting all over again! HA

I've also been working on making some signs for some people at school that I was supposed to do several weeks ago & they never got finished! I'm ready to get this project off my counter! I made 3 tonight & have 4 more to do tomorrow & I should be finished for awhile.

We've also been on a MOUSE hunt around our house! I HATE mice!!!! They are clearing the land across from our house to build the new school we'll be at next year so the micey are relocating! We went and bought traps at Lowe's earlier tonight & Tyson already caught one out in the garage! (And we didn't use the live traps!)

Since I have no picture today or yesterday I'm going to give a shout out to some bloggy friends! I mean I wonder really how we ever survived without the internet, REALLY?

My friend Missy entered her local county fair last week, then shared her enteries on her blog~let me just say I was WOW'ed by her hidden talent!:) She even sews clothes for herself to wear! That's impressive!:)

I met Missy through the blog-o-sphere & I was trying to think the other day exactly which blog I found her through, but I can't remember! Maybe Missy can~Anyways, she's been rocking the year several ways, first, by being the mom to 5 kids~yep, five kids, then she's shared her weight loss journey on her blog & she's been doing GREAT!!! Talk about willpower & now her hidden sewing talent!

She's decided to share her talent with everyone & not just her family~She's opened an ETSY shop called BetsyGrace~run on over and check her out~I think you'll be just as impressed as I was~

Another bloggy blog~HA! what a phrase! ok maybe I shouldn't be up after 11pm on a school night! Anyways, Kristi at Everything's Pink is always posting something great & she shared this great deal...

I was Tagged...

by my blogging friend Missy. She did this post about 6 quirks and then tagged me! So, let me tell you six of my quirks:

I've thought about this for a couple of days and I am having a hard time coming up with quirky things. I'm sure my family can think of tons of them huh?

1. I can't stand spelling mistakes! DRIVES ME BATTY!!!!

2. I HAVE to have my laundry finished (that means folded and put away) but the time I go to bed on Sunday night. If it's not done then the whole week is ruined! Tyson doesn't understand this one.

3. I HAVE to check my bank account first thing in the morning online. Then I usually check it several times throughout the day, even when I know nothing has changed. BUT if Tyson stops by and buys something on the way home from work~I usually know it BEFORE I ever see him!:) (This one might be a little control freak instead of quirky!)

4. I have to do things in a certain order in the mornings or I'll forget something. So I get up, go to the bathroom, take a shower, put my contacts in, put my underwear on, brush my teeth, then fix my hair & get dressed.

5. I can't stand for crap to be all over the kitchen counters, but yet they are always a mess~thanks to my family!

6. I always think "she should fix up more" but yet I RARELY fix myself up! (UM, JUDGEMENTAL!!!!

I know, I know

I remembered late last night that I didn't have a picture for the day! So today I have 2~

The first one is Tyson with his homemade MRE's~He is traveling to Beaumont with some men from Church tomorrow to help some of the people who suffered extentsive damage from Hurricane Ike. Tyson packed all evening~it was almost comical, but heck he likes to be prepared! He's planning for the worse conditions down there. He put together these MRE's~they are a fork, sardines, crackers, gum & I'm not sure what else.



My other picture is of Heather & her friend Mila. Mila & Heather have been friends since they were born! Since we moved from Broaddus 3 years ago, they don't really get to see each other much. They were in Lufkin town this evening & I told them Mila could spend the night! They were so excited to see each other!

Well the list only part way worked...POTD 9/17/08

I did manage to get a few things marked off my list today, things such as get Pop Rocks & eye dr! They were the two most important things I needed to get done today! Yep, Surprise Jed has reading glasses now!! I took him to the eye dr yesterday and the result was that he was slightly farsighted & since he doesn't care for school & struggles with his reading a little bit, the dr said this would help take the strain off his eyes and magnify the words for him. So far he loves them!


A friend of mine from work still does not have power so she came over this morning to take a hot shower and to wash some clothes, so I visited with her this morning until the kids ran her out by begging for Pop Rocks.


The kids have discovered the store down the road has ICEEs so that is their favorite treat now. So we got ICEES & Pop Rocks this morning for breakfast/lunch! HAHA

Go ahead and pass the MOM of the YEAR award this way! I'll be waiting!

The kids are all spending the night with someone else (or at least they were when I left them). We'll see how many end up calling and begging to come home in a little while! I'm sure Tyson will want to go to bed when he gets home from a meeting at Church, so I MIGHT stay up and get the floors mopped or do something else productive! I took like a 3 hour nap this afternoon so I'm sure I'll have plenty of energy! And tomorrow they are going to play at another friends house for a little while so I might get some more stuff marked off!:)

POTD 9/16/08

I think that's the right date anyways~I'm sitting at my computer and starting thinking of everything I need and want to do tomorrow~it's a million things I swear! So I busted out the mini sharpies & started making this



As you can see it's mostly cleaning chores! ugh~Maybe I'll be more motivated to get things crossed off~I also made a colorful list of chores for the kids to get done in the morning & another list of crafty things I would like to get done before next Monday when we have to return to school!

POTD 9/13/08, 9/14/08, 9/15/08~Hurricane Ike Edition!

right after my last post on Saturday we lost power & we have been without power or internet since! Needless to say I've gotten a lot of reading done since then! HAHA
I have 3 pictures to show you from the last couple of days & a video~


The first is one of the things that has been our lifesaver~The generator! I think this should be a manadatory piece of equipment in every home! If you don't have one, get one regardless of where you live! Really, we never really knew our power was out. We could use the bathroom with a light, we could run the ceiling fans & the window unit a/c with it. Our freezer & fridge never stopped! It's awesome!


The next is the a/c we bought to sleep with~it was great~We ran this and our ceiling fan with our bedroom door closed for 2 nights and never missed a beat. If you've ever been to our house you know how cold we like it. This worked like a charm!


Pioneer girl~NO? We had a grill to cook on, but Tyson's been cutting trees & I haven't been trained on how to use it properly. So this morning I brought out the griddle to cook pancakes & then Tyson told me before he left that I could use that to cook ravoli's on later, so that's what I did! It worked like a charm!:)

So we've made it through yet another hurricane with minimal damage & suffering! I really felt prepared this time around~I think it might get a little easier each time b/c we will think of something we didn't have the time before!

Hurricane Ike Update #2

Well, it's 7am and the storm is just now coming through. And we still have power! (it flickered off a couple times this morning but it came back on) Tyson is outside videoing with the video camera. I did a couple of short videos on my digital camera so I'll load those later~The wind gusts are pretty strong but there are no trees down around our house YET!

Hurricane Ike Update

The LDN is reporting that we should start getting hurricane winds around 8 pm tonight.

Heather has got to be the most creative kid I know. My mom sent her a tutu today and instead of wearing it like a tutu, she went and put on her blue dance costume from last year's recital and put the tutu on her head, came out of her bedroom and said "I'm a flower!" I wonder what she would say if I told her that was her Halloween costume?

POTD 9/11/08

Here's my picture from last night~we might be redneck but we aren't going to be hot! HAHA Tyson decided we needed a small window unit to hook up to the generator, so WHEN we lose power we can sleep. Here it is sitting on the freezer in the garage while Tyson was testing it out! HAHA We are going to put it in our bedroom, let our kids sleep in there with us & close the door! I'll let you know how it goes!

I'm so excited~I picked this up today at Target (with my $15 in gift cards to help pay for it). I went over to the Nike Plus website loaded in my information and joined a challenge!

POTD 9/8/08 AKA Don't Mess with My TUTU...

My mom's ward has a great Enrichment program & they are always doing something cute or crafty~Last week my mom had to head up the TUTU making class & of course my mom does NOTHING in moderation so she made Heather & Caroline (really Caroline, but Heather is such a skinny butt they fit her too) these cute TUTU's

I haven't been on the coupon bandwagon the last couple of weeks b/c I've had to go back to work unfortunatly:( So I sat down today and looked through my coupons and came up with some deals.


My first stop was CVS (with 3 kids in tow!)

*1st deal~buy $6 in Suave products get $2 ECB's so I bought
-Shampoo
-Conditioner
-Body Wash
Had a coupon that was $2 off 3 Suave products

*2nd Deal~Get 3 Pantene Products for 9.99 get $2 ECB's so it's like getting it for $7.99 so I got
-Pantene shampoo
-Pantene conditioner
-Pantene hairspray
had a coupon buy a pantene product get a styling product for free

*3rd Deal~Cologate toothpaste was 2.99, get $2 ECB so it's like getting it for .99 cents had $1 off coupon THIS ITEM WAS FREE!!!!

*4th Deal~When I went in the kids scanned my Extra care card and a coupon for a $1 off any lady speed stick printed out. So I picked up a trial size for my 72 hr kit~
This item was FREE!!!

5th Deal~Dawn Dishwashing Soap was on sale for 99 cents & I had a $1 off coupon~another FREE item! WOO HOO!!!

My total OOP for this trip was $11.71 & I got $6 ECB's back for next time!!!


Then I ventured out to Target (again with the Kiddo's)~we had to have a long lecture about how we were only getting certain things yadayadayada!

Target had on sale buy 4 poptarts, rice krispies, keebler cookies for $9 & get a $5 gift card~then I had $1 off coupons when you buy 2 so this worked perfect~

1st deal~
-2 boxes of rice krispie treats
-2 pkgs fudge shoppe cookies
$9-$2 coupons=$7-$5 in gc/total for 4~$2

2nd deal
4 boxes poptarts
$9-$2 coupons~$7-$5 in gc/total for 4~$2

3rd deal
2 boxes poptarts
2 pkgs cookies
$9-$2 coupons~$7-$5 in gc/total for 4~$2

4th deal~Tyson requested a new toothbrush so I looked while I was at Target~They had Reach toothbrushes for 1.48 and I had a coupon for $1 off so the Toothbrush was just .48 cents.

Ok back to the poptart deal My total at Target after coupons was 28.40, but I got $15in Target GC's & I have a Kelloggs Fuel for School rebate for $10 back so

it's like getting all this stuff for $3.40 (I love it when CVS says it like this in their ad) and I would have to say this is probably my very best deal yet! I just had to share!

And yes, I took pictures of it (potd) and I blogged about it b/c I'm so excited!:)

POTD 9/5/08

OK I started to panic tonight when I thought I hadn't take a picture for today, but then I remembered that I took on last night and ended up not using it.

Twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring, these annoying little bugs, called love bugs, come to East Texas~I have no clue what their purpose is but they are nasty, they swarm and then they just kind of stick to you. UGH





I don't know if you can tell from the picture but it's 2 bugs attached to each other~ANNOYING and NASTY!!!

Ok people I totally had another picture all ready to post but then Tyson brought the camera in with these pictures on it so I HAD to post

The boy scout man came and talked to the boys at school today & of course Jed wants to join up again~I told Tyson that was his deal and he had to commit to taking Jed~I think it's only fair if I have to take Heather to dance!:) So that's why Jed has on his boy scout shirt.







What can I say~He's a natural like his daddy!:)

POTD 9/3/08

Well folks it's that time of year AGAIN~actually I don't think it ever goes away~yes, it's hunting season AGAIN! Tyson is the most avid hunter I know~he literally thinks about it ALL. YEAR. LONG!

So he was so excited when this was waiting on our front porch this evening when we got home



so you may be wondering what this is~it's a camera mount so tyson can put this on a tree (or somewhere) and mount our video camera to it and then he can record the whole time he hunts and he'll have it on tape when he kills something so instead of telling a story he'll have a movie to go with it!


Maybe he'll get a smaller video camera so it won't be so big! haha

*when I told him to hold it up, he asked if I even knew what it was~My reply~"No, but I know you are excited about it!"

This is so funny~Jed has been begging Tyson to let him shoot his (Jed's) bow one day. So after we had dinner I dropped Tyson and the kids off at home then I went to run an errand~when I came home this is what I saw

~Summer Salad~The Recipe

I had to email my cousin LaNan and tell her I blogged about her~so she emailed her secret summer salad recipe~ENJOY!

Corn and Zucchini Melody
4 slices bacon
2 cups chopped zucchini
1 1/2 cups fresh corn kernels
1 small onion, chopped
1 pinch pepper
1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese


Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Reserve 1 tablespoon of drippings. Drain bacon, chop, and set aside.
Heat the bacon drippings in the skillet over medium heat. Saute the zucchini, corn, and onion until tender but still crisp, about 10 minutes. Season with pepper. Spoon vegetables into a bowl, and sprinkle with chopped bacon and shredded cheese.

*LaNan says she used turkey bacon & more cheese than it called for~I promise it was YUM-O!* Sorry LaNan that I said ugly things about it!:)

I thought it might be fun to try to take a photo a day for the month of September so here's my photo for last night~The weather forecast predicted that Hurricane Gustav was headed our way~Tyson & I sat outside last night for a long time just watching the weather and talking about nothing really! I went inside and got my camera and told him what I was doing! Of course, he thought I was crazy!

It tooks us 3 tries to get a decent picture~


Here's the first try~Hello double chin! :) Tyson wasn't happy b/c he said his cheeks are fat when he smiles!

~Summer Salad~

When we went to Austin this summer my cousin made this summer salad~it was YUM-O~it had some weird stuff in it so I was sure someone else made it~you know, someone who was way into healthier food than us! haha Anyways, LaNan email me your summer salad recipe & I'll post it!:)
